Season 1 Production Day 6

With an early call time and a chilly September morning, the crew made their way out to Arlington Heights to film most of episode 5. David Gange writes the scene on our more ‘modern’ marker as Nick Chandler plans the next angle.

We filmed all of the Lawn Aids scenes and had nearly all of them finished by lunch. Above, Klaudia Siczek performs the forbidden Weed Whack Tango.

Sam Bahena, seductively eating Swiss Rolls, plays ‘Ramon’ and poses for his close up. Martin feeds Ramon Swiss Rolls when he’s been a good boy so Sam ended up eating about half of a box by the end of the day.

Dan Galiniak playing a badass in the Lawn Aids crew. I believe the direction here was “Go all Darth Maul on that shit.”

Preparing for the next scene, the Yard Times crew is invaded by their rival crew, the Lawn Aids.

Bev, Toph, Sophie and Anthony in a scene where Duncan explains how he broke all of the lawn mowers.

Duncan showing off his weed whacking skills while wearing only one flip flop.

Duncan helps the crew fix a lawn mower by introducing his weed whacker penis to the equation, that always works.

The gang takes turns exchanging insults during lunch. Toph needs to put on some sunscreen because he just got burned.

We also filmed all of the Martin scenes. Martin, played by me (Blaise Sewell), is the villainous leader of Lawn Aids. I did my facial hair in the form of gay-villain and wore suspenders for good measure. Hopefully David can post some more pictures as I didn’t get many pictures of myself.

Henri does some yoga in the backyard. This shot will be used for his intro in episode 5.

Margo and Martin have a showdown in the driveway. Sophie gets her closeup as Nick does his best to stay out of the reflection in her sunglasses.

Toph poses with an ax and Nick, dressed as Lenny, greases his hair with Axe.

I really have no idea what this will be used for but we shot a goofy scene with Bev, Toph and Byron peeking their heads out from behind a bush. One of the final shots of the day.

We canceled filming on Sunday because of the weather and a few other issues but the good news: we’ll be finished with all outdoor scenes after next weekend! Unbelievable, Nick just told me we’re about 60-70% finished with principle photography (which I like to call Prince Photog.) So that means we’re ready to begin all of the indoor shots which should only take a weekend or two in October. Such a relief, I had a dream earlier this week that all of the trees had lost their leaves and we were still trying to film summer scenes in the fall. Thanks for reading and stay tuned, we may leak some footage later in the week.
